Funding Information: This work is supported by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), under HEI-Lab R&D Unit (UIDB/05380/2020) and Project PlayersAll: media agency and empowerment (EXPL/COM-OUT/088 2/2021). Publisher Copyright: © 2023 Owner/Author.This paper proposes an empirical framework that aims to classify difficulty according to the player's physiological response. As part of the experimental protocol, a simple puzzle-based Virtual Reality (VR) videogame with three levels of difficulty was developed, each targeting a distinct region of the valence-arousal space. A study involving 32 participants was conducted, during which physiological responses (EDA, ECG, Respiration), were measured alongside emotional ratings, which were self-assessed using the Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM) during gameplay. Statistical analysis of the self-reports verified the effectiveness of the three levels in eliciting different emotions. Furthermore, classification using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) was performed to predict difficulty considering the physiological responses associated with each level. Results report an overall F1-score of 74.05% in detecting the three levels of difficulty, which validates the adopted methodology and encourages further research with a larger dataset.publishe

Changes in physical and chemical soil properties on burnt shrub areas in mediterranean mountains, Northern Portugal
Human induced fire in scrublands to obtain better pastures for cattle is a relatively common practice in North Portugal. During burning, plant cover and litter layers are consumed, and the mineral soil is heated, resulting in changes to physical, chemical, mineralogical, and biological soil properties.
The extent and duration of the fire effects on soil properties depend on fire behaviour, especially related to fire severity, as well as on climatic conditions, mainly the characteristics of subsequent rainfall events.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Editorial - Games and Learning: Consolidating and Expanding the Potential of Analogue and Digital Games
For a long time, Games Research suffered from what Jaakko Stenros and Annika Waern classified as the Digital Fallacy – the tendency to regard analog games as a subset of digital games rather than the other way around. Where boardgames were once associated with the past of games and learning and digital games with the future, there are now fresh insights and applications for boardgames in learning – alongside with their renaissance as games for entertainment. Even as boardgames found new relevance in learning, the already-recognized possibilities in digital games for learning have continued to expand, with more flexible and ubiquitous tools and platforms allowing for a greater variety of avenues of learning research and practice to be explored. Augmented and mixed reality as well as virtual reality are frontiers in learning that beg for further exploration

When we talk about Children's Rights, we are talking about their right to achieve the
defense and promotion of their rights and to see their physical and psychological well-being
protected. So that we can truly work in this direction, we inevitably have to create space for
other social and human sciences, which can help us in identifying and better understanding
the interests of children and young people.
Therefore, for a correct and broad understanding of this issue, we not only have to
resort to Law, but also to other areas of knowledge, such as the scientific areas of psychology,
child psychiatry, education and sociology, as will be evident in the throughout this work.
In this sense, the objective of my thesis will be to study the rights of children and
young people at an international and national level and the Portuguese foster system in order
to be able to propose solutions to problems such as the lack of foster families, the weak
stimulation of foster care families in our society, as well as identifying and trying to minimize
the structural problems of foster homes, with regard to their own functioning and human
resources, recognizing the consequences they have on the school life of the sheltered minors
and identifying the support provided to young people during and after of their stay, with an
emphasis on their autonomy.
For this purpose, I intend not only to comment on the legislation, but also on its
practical application, to analyze various studies on the indicated topics and, at the same time,
compare reception systems in other countries, and also share what some professionals linked
to this area suggest and try to implement on the day to day to improve the reality of these
children and young people.

Gneuropathy: Validation process at clinical environment
Spinal cord injuries are one of the most traumatic situations with a major impact on a person's quality of life. This type of injury have a extremely impact in the performance of daily life activities not only due to motor alterations but also due to the appearance of neuropathic pain Throughout the rehabilitation process the evaluation and intervention methodologies are not very systematic and are not personalized. Thus, to bridge this gap, the VR4NeuroPain was developed a technology that associates virtual reality with a glove "GNeuroPathy". The glove "GNeuroPathy" allows the collection of physiological parameters, namely to identify the electrodermic activity (EDA) while the patient carries out activities in an immersive environment. The main objective of this article is to present the validation process of the "GNeuroPathy" in clinical context. "GNeuroPathy" was applied to a group of 17 individuals with incomplete spinal cord injury. The results showed that "GNeuroPathy" is easy to apply and is suitable for comfort and texture. Data were also collected from EDA and it was found that there is a significant difference in signal amplitude in patients with low and high functionality.preprintpublishe
